Auto Insert Notification

My system has suddenly stopped automatically starting CD's. In the CD system properties, I have the auto insert notification box checked and it did work till just recently. I haven't added any software or changed anything so I don't get it. Is there something I can write in the registry that will make this work again? It's kind of a pain to go to "start\run\browse\x:setup.exe\ok" just to get something going. I have a Plextor 16/10/40 secondary IDE master and alone on cable. Run win98se Thanks, Ron
