autoexec.cfg vs. doomconfig.cfg....

hi all,

is the autoexec.cfg an override to the doomconfig.cfg or does the
autoexec.cfg change the values in the doomconfig.cfg file?

i recently used the video tweaks posted at upsetchap and i did not like
what the game looked like with the autoexec.cfg in place so i deleted it
only to find that it appears that the values were changed in the
doomconfig.cfg file.

to get back to the original looking game, i deleted the doomconfig.cfg
file and let the game rebuild it.

ant comments welcome.

autoexec.cfg overrides doomconfig.cfg; however any settings in autoexec.cfg
are also saved in doomconfig.cfg when doom 3 exits.

I'm not sure about this in Doom 3, but the overwriting, in Quake3,
depended on what command you used. seta means set and archive, set
means just set but it won't be written to the doom3config. At least
that's the way it's supposed to work.

There are apparently many cvars that will not be written to the
doom3config. i.e. you must have com_allowConsole 1 in the autoexec or
command line, it will never be archived in the doom3config.
