Hello! Currently facing a boot issue post factory reset failure for my MSI laptop. I factory reset my laptop with the intention of giving it away. I was planning on giving it away, so I made sure to do a full disk wipe. The reset seemed to work, but Windows warned me that it didn’t manage to get rid of all of my personal files, and that another reset would be required to truly remove everything. Seeing as I still had the intent of giving the laptop away, I chose to reset the machine again.
Big mistake-- not sure when, but while I wasn’t looking, the infamous automatic repair loop error occurred. Chances are, it was while my laptop was trying to reinstall Windows, but I can’t say for sure. The laptop said that it couldn’t reset and forced me into automatic repair. Every time I shut down, I’m forced into automatic repair, which always fails to fix the issue.
Things I’ve tried:
1) System Reset/Restore/Image Recovery: All failed.
2) MSI: “Restore MSI factory settings”
Result: Failed-- “REAGENTC.exe image false”
3) Startup Repair: Failed-- E:\Recovery\WindowsRE]Winre.wim\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
4)
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Results:
fixmbr works
fixboot does NOT work-- “Access is denied”
scanos-- says I have 0 installations of Windows
rebuildbcd-- says I have 0 installations of Windows
I then tried to focus on this 0 installations of Windows issue, and followed the answer posted on this forum:

Got stuck on step 5-- “c:/boot path not found”
Anything else I can try? I've read online that a clean install of Windows might fix things, but I've been a bit hesitant to try it. Thank you!
