Automatic Updates Disabled but Updates Anyway

I have disabled Automatic Updates in Windows 7, and checked again - it is definately disabled. However, I am continually shut down by Windows to install updates. Microsoft has taken over my laptop. Can I do anything about it?

You may have to also uncheck the options for "give me recommended updates..." and "give me updates for microsoft products..." also.
