[SOLVED] Automatically open .exe files using 7zip

I don't know how but somehow my system decides to open .exe file using 7zip which will extract the file instead of running the file. I've tried to uninstall the 7zip, make sure that .exe is excluded from the default 7zip file in the 7zip option, and tried to merge a registry file. Any ideas?

However, if you tinkered with the registry then nothing may work.

Registry editing is not recommended and should only be a last resort. And that only after everything (including registry) is fully backed up.

If the instructions do not work, then try make note of any pop-ups, error codes, etc. that appear with respect to a failure in the process.

Do you remember any downloads or software installs that preceded the problem?

Look in Reliability History for error codes, warnings, and even informational events. The timeline format may reveal when the problem actually began.
