Autorun doesn't work

Hi. Autorun doesn't work and I've tried several solutions (in control panel or registry) I found online and none of them worked. There's no problem installing software. I also wrote to a CD-R and a DVD-R without errors. The computer is about 10 months old and autorun hasn't worked in a long time so after failing to find a solution, I decided to try a forum. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, in my opinion, the best OS MS has ever made. Thanks for any suggestions.

A little more, please. I right-clicked the autorun file on a disk and went to Properties. Now what?

The solution for most is to go to Control Panel...Autoplay and choose the app you want to start each type of disc. It didn't work for me. There's a registry subkey - NoDriveTypeAutoRun - that appears twice in the registry and might be corrupt. I changed one to the correct hex value and now it works. It works on music CDs and software DVDs.
16 or 32 bit is irrelevant. You were overcomplicating the issue so I looked elsewhere.
