I have a microphone type device (with a 1/4" male, the kind guitars use) which is being clamped by 2 alligator clips, and those lead into my computer aux jack so I can record it. I'm doing this due to lack of 1/4 to AUX adapter. The problem is, my computer thinks my microphone is an output speaker. Anyway I can fix this?

Alligator clip to 3.5mm i'm using.

Solution
A microphone input can be mono or stereo. It would be a pink jack. This is the one you need.
A line level input would be stereo and be it would be a light blue jack.
If you only have one input jack then you may need to change it to mic level in the audio driver control panel. You may also need a stereo plug. You can wire to one channel of the plug.
