aux on monitor not working

im trying to stream my switch games. but i need to have going to my headphones. my monitor has an aux but whenever i plug in the headphones the sound still comes out of the monitor speakers and doesnt have sound going into the headphones at all. i tried having the sound go to the PC from OBS but it was coming out of the monitor as well as my headphones and it was buzzing and distorted. heres the monitor im using.

The monitor has two 3.5mm audio jacks, one to feed audio in from your PC's audio-out, and the other one for the headphones.

You won't get any audio out of the headphones until you feed audio in to the monitor as above.

To feed audio in to the monitor you'll need to buy a stereo audio cable with a 3.5mm jack-plug at each end like this:

Note - Re your reference to the monitor's speakers: if the speakers don't mute when you plug headphones in, you may have plugged them in to the input jack instead of the output jack. One jack is input...

As the OP didn't mention HDMI anywhere in his/her post, I composed my reply accordingly, assuming either DVI, DP or VGA was being used. I must admit, however, that I did think about HDMI after posting. You raised an important point which I (temporarily) overlooked :/
