This is more of a question than an actual problem. I have 16 GB RAM installed in my system ( 2x 8 GB). When i go to computer properties, it shows that i have 16 GB RAM installed which is normal. But when i open the task manager to see the RAM usage, it shows that the available RAM is actually 15.9 GB and not 16 GB.
At first i thought that it could be some system reserved space and didnt pay much attention to it, but when i looked at task manager of other computers, they had the full RAM available and nothing was missing. If it is indeed a system reserved space, shouldnt it be to everyone?
What can reduce the available RAM (even if its just a small part of it)?
CPU: Intel Core i5 4690
M/B: Gigabyte Z97-HD3
RAM: 16GB (2x 8GB) Kingston Hyper X Savvage (1600 MHz)
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Note that i have disabled the intergrated Graphics of my CPU from BIOS.

you can click task manager and go to resource monitor > memory tab.
there you can see how much memory is hardware reserved - usually for BIOS / peripheral drivers etc.
exact amt will depend on your system but i'd say 100mb out of 16GB is pretty decent. I'm sitting at 71mb for a 16 gig system also.

Thank you for the reply. I opened the resource monitor as you said in order to check. According to it, 73 MB are reserved for BIOS and other peripheral drivers as it says. Is there a way to see which ones? You say that it keeps 71 from you. Does it also show 15.9 GB RAM when you open task manager?

yes it shows 15.9 GB available also. i don't know any way to see exactly where those RAM has been allocated to but it shouldn't be an issue so long it's not an absurd amount
