Windows Explorer shows 19.5 GB left on my disk C: (231gb total) but when selecting all folders inside the disk including hidden folders it shows only 119gb in use. Meaning that there should be 112 GB of free space instead of just 19.5.

Whats going on?

Solution

There are still some things that do not show, even if you select 'Show Hidden'.

Install and run WinDirStat
Run As Administrator, selecting only this drive.

Post a screencap here.

The used space of the Users folder is very different from Explorer. 27.8 vs 79.7 Gb

The /Users/ folder contains all users.
Explorer only shows you the single user currently logged in.

Interesting. However, there is just one user on this pc. Not sure where that space goes.

What about that .dll of 51.4 Gb?

That big pink/purple space?
What is it associated to?

Select that block. At the bottom left, it will show what file/folder it actually is.

Those are Pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys. Did some research but I should leave it as is.

I'm deleting some big files that I don't need anymore. Seems like that's all I can do.

Thanks for the help!

Pagefile, you can reduce that space if desired.
Depending on how much RAM you have, take it down.

8GB or less, leave it alone. 16GB or more, possibly reduce that to 1 or 2GB min/max.

Hibernation...unless you actually use that feature, turn it OFF.

Basically, from an elevated command prompt: powercfg –h off
