I have the VHS. The VHS quality is actually really good. What I'd like to do
is to remove those blue colored noises and then sharpen the image a bit.
So can anyone who has done, recommend me external filters and settings they
use? Thanks.

Actually, I don't. Can you post an image to illustrate them?

This image is taken from MPEG-2 file. On computer it looks somewhat ok: dark,
but on TV screen it looks like a mixture of blue and green colors.

Do you want me to boost the brightness up and repost it if you can't see?

Looks like what you need is a "Chroma Noise reduction" filter. For
instance, the Cnr2 one at http://ziquash.chez.tiscali.fr, from MarcFD.

Thank you.

Bariloche,

does this filter blur the image? I am not experienced with chroma noise
reduction filters at all. Is the one you recommend the best out there?

I think that one (2.4?) has problems. You need the latest 2.61:
