Avoiding apartment wifi and using my own router

Okay, so my apartment has wifi for everyone. Though, once each person connects they're prompted to create an account (if they do not already have one). Then once you have an account, you can only add 4 devices at most. Nowadays, 4 wifi connectable devices is not much, at least not for me. I have my own router and I've tried connecting it to the Ethernet port, but once I choose it as my network on my laptop, it makes me add my router as one of my 4 devices that the apartment wifi allows me to have. My question is, is there anyway around using the apartments provided wifi? I want to be able to use my router so I can connect as many devices as I please.

Obviously, the Apt's Wifi Services are intended for everyone to share a limited bandwidth.

Just because you've got your own router, it still is feeding from the Apt's shared services. If you're going to accept their data services, why not accept their limits?

That opens up one option for you: "Have the ISP run a dedicated cable to your apartment, and you pay for it's more-unlimited services."
