AX860 18+10 pin connector question

I just bought an AX860 PSU and this is my first time with a full modular PSU.

One cable is the 24 pin connector (motherboard side), but on the other side of the cable there is a 18+10 pin connector that goes to the PSU, but I'm not sure if I need to plug both 18 and 10 pin connectors.

yes you have to plug in both the 18 and 10 pin.

Yes plug them both it. Some of the wires the mobo needs to run are in the 10 pin plug and some are in the 18 pin plug

what happens if someone by mistake connects one side 18pin to the PSU and the 24Pin to the Motherboard ? what damages it might bring to the mother board and motherboard functionality ?

I have done that mistake and I see that bios comes up and process is detected but the hard drive Is not detected although HDD had not problem , I tried with brand new HDD as well. It is no more detecting SATA also .

When I go to the SaTA are in BIOS none of the SATA are enabled and not found ? Does that mean motherboard is damage partially ?
