Hey, I'm about to purchase this motherboard (
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XMXVMCH?ref_=ams_ad_dp_ttl ) along with a Ryzen 5 1600. Lots of the reviews say that the CPU won't run on the Bios this board comes with which makes it a waste in time and money. Is this an old problem? Should I look for other boards around the same price range? Or is their a solution?
Thanks!
Most Ryzen boards currently in distribution channels have had BIOS updated to support the Ryzen APU's and Ryzen+ processors (released earlier in 2018) which means it would definitely support a Ryzen 5 (released in 2017). You should contact the seller to see if this one has been updated to 'Ryzen 2000' capable BIOS.
That said: I have a very early GB AB350M-Gaming 3 and I believe even the shipping BIOS would support an R5 1600. BUT: you should absolutely update BIOS in any case, and very quickly, since the latest version will provide for best memory support and fix the many, many, early problems the AM4 platform had.
