Hello everyone.

I'm looking for some advice to what mobo should i buy. My budget is around 160$. Ive been wanting to buy b450 tomahawk max but since b550 chipset is available i was wondering if it would be a better choice to buy b550 mobo in that price range. Im also planning to upgrade my cpu. Currently running ryzen 3 2200g but planning to upgrade to ryzen 5 3600 or maybe wait for ryzen 5000 series to launch.

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Im currently running a320m hdv r.4. So yea its a new upgrade. One more question. If i buy b550 wich one would you recommend in 160$ range and will it support r3 2200g out of the box?
I'm not positive...but... B550 only supports ryzen 3000 CPU's and, with a BIOS upgrade, Ryzen 5000. That means any 2000 CPU...and I'm pretty sure that would mean 2200's which are based on 1st gen Ryzen....are not supported.

So you really need to get your 3600 (at least) and the B550 together. But until then, a B550 board won't really offer any advantage for your 2200G over the A320 board you have it on right now anyway.

What motherboard is your 2200g running on? If it's a decent enough B450, it's not really going to get you anything to 'upgrade' to B550.

If a new purchase, I agree that going B550 is the best choice.

You are right, b550 doesnt support ryzen 2000. I think im going to save up a little bit and get a r5 3600. Its a better choice. Thanks for the help anyway. 😀
