Hi,
I wanted to know if some of the b450 motherboard are compatible with the 3rd gen ryzen CPUs without upgrading the bios.
Yes. The MSI Tomahawk Max is Ryzen 3000 ready out of the box. This mobo also got good reviews.
Thanks. How about the Asus rog strix b450 f, will it work? Some of them may have the updated BIOS already installed when you buy it, depending on when the board was manufactured.
But, the best way to ensure compatibility is to buy a B450 motherboard that supports BIOS Flash without a CPU. The MSI B450 Tomahawk supports this feature.
Expanding on that: all of MSI's B450 MAX series are compatible out of the box. They were designed specifically for Ryzen 3000.Yes. The MSI Tomahawk Max is Ryzen 3000 ready out of the box. This mobo also got good reviews.
AFAIK the Strix does not have the BIOS Flash support without a CPU.Thanks. How about the Asus rog strix b450 f, will it work?

The ROG B450 Strix will have to be checked to make sure it's been updated to a Ryzen compatible BIOS. But once updated it will work.
I'd have a guess at it and say yes, most likely so, since 2400 isn't a very challenging DRAM clock speed at all for Ryzen 3000.just looked at some specs, it looks good but i wanna check if i can still use my (corsair vengence) 16gb ddr4 2400mhz with it
its just that the spec sheet said that r5 3rd gen supports 2666 and above so i just wanted to checkI'd have a guess at it and say yes, most likely so, since 2400 isn't a very challenging DRAM clock speed at all for Ryzen 3000.
You may even find you can squeeze more than that, but no guarantees.
That may be confusing, but I don't think it's intended to rule out support all the way down past 2400 to 2133. It certainly best not be: when I first booted the new 3700X in my system populated with 3200 Mtps FlareX memory I was greeted with a 2133 clock speed. Just a default... I had to load up XMP profile to get full 3200 support.its just that the spec sheet said that r5 3rd gen supports 2666 and above so i just wanted to check

I'm pretty confident you'll be fine too.
