Building a new pc and I was wondering which motherboard to get with the Ryzen 7 5800x. I was looking to get the ASUS Rog Strix B550-F gaming, since I don't plan on overclocking and it's very similar in power to the X570 around that price range. Should I go for the B550-F (or any B550) or get the Asus X570 or another X570 board for a bit more money?

X570 is the kind of thing that if you don't know you need it, and why, then you probably don't. It's essentially it's just a PCIe extender with it's advantage of handling more than the normal number of high-bandwidth gen 4 devices in PCIe slots. The normal is one gen 4 GPU, one gen 4 NVME and B550 boards handle that just as well.

If you want more NVME's you can add a Gen 3 on many B550's. Nobody's shown a compelling real-world functional improvement running gen 4 so that will be fine. I think the Asus B550-F does, and it's a great board.

I have a b550-f gaming Wi-Fi, and it is a great motherboard. I am running 32gb of ram 3600c14, overclocked to 3800 c 15, and my CPU is overclocked to 5.05GHz on 6 cores and 4.9 on the rest. (5900x) As long as you have a good cooler, the B550-F Gaming is great!

Edit: I forgot to say that, if I can run this, you can to with ease, especially since you are not overclocking.
