With the hockey fever, i tried a few more games of NHL2004, and although
the gameplay is much better, I went back to NHL2003 with its more
realistic scores.
How difficult would it be to fix the annoying bug of inflated scores in
simmed 2004 games? There are always at least a dozen players that have
an average of more than 3 points a game, and top players like Sakic and
Forsberg find themselves below the 50th rank in the scoring ladder.
Fighting for the scoring lead is an exciting part of the game for me, so
I play 2003 instead of 2004.This bug is a gamekiller for me. How
difficult is it for a programmer to divide by two? Another NHL2004
gamekiller is that the opponent's players always skate faster than mine,
giving the AI a big edge. How difficult is it to change THAT?
And whydahell don't they give the patch number for NHL2004 on the EA
site? When I go there with autopatch, it says it patches the game, but
it still says 1.01 in the game, and there is no mention of the patch
number of the EA site. And there is no other way of downloading it. I
think I saw on a forum that there is a 1.4 patch, but I can find no sign
of it anywhere.
When I went back to NHL2003, I got the most recent patch. Now it seems
to me that in 2003, the sliders for player and goalie strengths were
available even during league play (not online). Now it is like 2004,
they are available only for friendly games. Has this been changed and
why? I used to like to move the slilders to balance the game.
EASports are shooting themselves in the foot with their lack of support
for this game. I will think twice before I buy another game from them.
