Disreguarding all of the pointless details, I built a pc for my mother that has windows 8 on it. She uses photoshop a lot but that's on her old PC that runs windows XP. So I moved the old hard drive to the new PC and I can find photoshop but it will not let me download it again(as expected). So I wanted to know if booting from the old hard drive with windows XP on it would break anything or not be able to run the equipment in the pc for some reason. New pc specs are: AMD A10-5800k, Nvidia Geforce 610, 1 TB toshiba hard drive, 8gb ram, 500watt power supply, Windows 8. Old pc specs are something like: AMD Sempron, 2gb ram, 160gb hard drive, windows XP.

Solution
give it a go; it won't damage anything if you're unsuccessful. If the old PC was Intel I would tell you it won't boot (switching from an AMD to Intel board and vice versa causes a freakout with the mobo), but since the old PC was AMD too, eh, just try it lol
