hi everyone,i downloaded backtrack 3.iso and i want to run this via magicdisc on my netbook.here is my question:how do i do that?all hints ,tips, and good advice are welcome.thanks! :bounce:

You can't run backtrack using magicdisc. Magicdisc doesn't allow booting from an ISO, it will just let you view the files inside it. You can use VMware or VirtualBox to load the ISO into a virtual machine instead, which will allow you to do what you want (most likely). The other option is to get the ISO to work off a USB flash drive so that you can boot from it.

You should also look at getting Backtrack 4.

thanks for the advice, but one question:will backtrack 4 work on virtualbox?and how i do that?please?

sorry to bother you again, but i have another question:when i want to download backtrack 4,then i only see that there is a beta version of bt4.can i do everything in bt4 or is bt3 final version better?thanks for helping.i want to experiment with linux based programs, but I'm not familiar with it(i use win xp on my netbook).can i do something wrong with experimenting with backtrack?and if so,how can i avoid this, please?

If you are not familiar with linux then why are you trying backtrack? It is not exactly a noob friendly distro and is meant for professionals, hobbyists and enthusiasts.

(BT4 is past beta, its FINAL) Yes they have a special VMware image, or you can download the regular version as well.

hi everyone,i am running backtrack 4 on my netbook (via a oracle virtualbox) but when i try to use the firefox browser and i try to connect to google or another website then it says "address not found" and firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.(HE CAN'T EVEN FIND TOMSHARDWARE)and i tried everything but it still won't work.does anybody knows how this is possible?is it because it is running on a virtual machine?however,i can contact the pre configured backtrack website(the original webpage when i open firefox on my virtual backtrack) with succes.thanks for helping folks!

i am running backtrack 4 on my netbook via virtual box,and when i'm trying to use airmon it would not recognize my build in wireless network card(a broadcom networkadapter).it says"no such device".how does this come?i googled for it and some people say that only usb networkadapters are supported in virtual box and backtrack 4.is this true?thanks for helping.
