I have a Compac computer that I bought online ( used ) Windows XP is install
on it .My question is if my hard drive crashed or I had to replace it , I do
not have the windows installation disc . Can I make a back-up cd that would
install XP again ? I have the product code sticker on the tower.

Thanks,
Tim

One way to accomplish this is to make an image of the entire system - which
could be restored from a CD or DVD in the case of hard drive failure.

http://terabyteunlimited.com/ Image For Windows

is one such utility. There are several others.

You need to contact Compaq/HP and order the Recovery CDs.

If you had a crash you would want to reinstall are your own data and
settings in which case you need a total image piece of software.
Obtaining another copy of XP from Compaq would only reinstate XP and you
would loose all your data and settings etc.
I use Acronis True Image which is easy to understand and use.
