Background processes overloading

I currently am running Windows 10 on my pc and recently, I've been booting my computer to find extreme lag. I was wondering what was causing this issue until I came across the task manager to see that my computer was running over 10,000 background processes (no joke). This issue has been occurring right after I turn the computer on and has evidently taken around 98% of my memory. Usually this issue disappears when the processes gradually goes away. Anything to help the issue?
With much thanks

You could try defragging your hard drive. The biggest thing though would be to put Windows on an SSD. You can buy a 240 GB SSD for as little as $60, and it will make a very big improvement in performance.

Good luck.
