Question Backplate missing on a used X570 ?

Hi, i just bought a used motherboard and found out that it doesn't have a backplate; the seller told me that he doesn't have one, so i'll just have to buy one new but i have no idea which one to buy.
would appreciate some help

the motherboard is the x570 msi mpg pro carbon wifi

Hey man,

There is no such thing as a backplate for your motherboard.. The only plate that is on the back is the plate that holds the CPU socket and retention arm.

yeah isn't that the backplate to mount the cooler?

Nope, this plate secures the CPU socket and retention arm. It is either covered by the backplate to a cooler, or this plate is removed to make place for a backplate for a cooler.

What you see in the picture is normal. There are maybe only a handful of motherboards that have backplates like graphics cards do.

It's not missing anything, this is how it comes from the factory. If there's a backplate needed for a cooler, it will come with the cooler. For instance, almost all Noctua coolers come with their standard SecuFirm2 backplate, which serves the same purpose as the white cross-like plate I showed in the image in my previous post.

It definitely is missing a backplate or i would be able to install a wraith cooler.

AM4 boards usually come with a stock AM4 backplate as the stock cpus coolers need it. There are aftermarket coolers that come with their own backplate and some that use the stock backplate.
