Backup an active drive c by cloning to a new drive

I want to clone drive c to drive x, so that when the system dies,
I get a clean copy of the original system. (The backed drive must contain all
installed software). I tried EasyBCD, but I am not sure how to mirror the drive into x
Any ideas?

I use it at work for the same reason. Right before I give a computer to a person I clone the drive so I have a fresh bootable copy of the computer just in case they screw something up.
