I'm looking for a backup software that does a file-by-file structure for the output based on an incremental backup. Basically mirroring by D drive which contains a lifetime of images, music, videos, etc. Summary: My desktop has two internal SSD drives (1 TB each, C and D drives). I also have a 2.5" removable HD tray on the front which I back up my internal drives to). When it comes to my D drive, I don't want the traditional single-file backup output. I do a lot of editing so if I torch a directory on my internal D drive, I want to be able to insert the backup D drive and simply rip what I need back to the internal D drive. This avoids the "restore" of the entire drive. Any suggestions?

File backups - FreeFIleSync or SyncBackFree
Can detect differences between source and target, and only copy the changed ones.

Macrium Reflect - Full drive backups including Incrementals, but you can Mount an Image as a drive letter, and retrieve what file you might need.

I have been using SyncBack for years. I use SyncBackSE, which I pay for, because I have several files with Greek filenames, which the free version won't backup. SyncBack is extremely flexible and controllable, I backup with it both to an external drive and to a cloud service - in the same backup job. As the name suggests, it only backs up files that have changed since the last backup.

So it leaves the file structure the same and does not create a single image file that I would have to load?
