Here is what I have. I am currently running a Netgear ReadyNas NV+ with 6tb of capable storage (4x2tb drives). I am currently only using about half. I just purchased a Western Digital 3tb My Book for redundancy and will periodically take a backup of what is on my NAS. From there, I will upload this all to my $6 a month, unlimited data cloud backup from Crashplan.

My question is does anyone recommend any backup software that will take what is on my NAS and place it on my My Book drive with scheduled replication? Synctoy seems to be a good fit, but I have also lost all my data before thanks to the tool. I don't trust it, nor is it automatic.

Western Digital has software called Myware. Will this work? I certainly don't mind paying for software that will do what I want. I just need recommendations.

Isnt there a function in the Nas already to do that? The usb drive must be connected to the nas's usb port.

Alternately you could just run a robocopy script on a schedule (i've had synctoy issue before too) just make sure you create a log file and check it periodically to make sure everythings working fine.
Robocopy is built into win7 & 8
