Question: Is there any reason why a modern graphics cart (GTX 570 or 580) work not with the following system:

Motherboard: Asus A8N 32-SLI-Deluxe
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
2 GB Ram
650W PSU

The MB has PCIe x16 slots so I believe I should be able to use a modern card.

I am aware that this is going to cause a huge bottleneck as the graphics will be way over-powered relative to the rest of the system. My ultimate goal is to use the card with a brand new build but I can't afford to buy everything right now. I am starting with the graphics card because that is the component on my current (2006) system that has failed.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Meant no there is no reason it shouldn't work. Without knowing if your mobo is pcie version 1.0 or 2.0 nvidea 2.0 cards would be safest.

Maybe also put in another 2G ram.
