"We have seen hardware modifications to the Intel 975 BadAxe that allow unlocking, and it would be great if ASUS can accomplish the same with a simple 975 BIOS upgrade, as they have on the P5B Deluxe."

Can someone tell me what they are talking about?

I would love to get the bad axe if I know in the future I can OC with just a simple multiplier change

you have got to be kidding me? I have yet to buy this motherboard but I will if it will make it that easy.

OCing using the multiplier is the best way to go if you can, right? I think I will be happy with the performance of my e6600 for some time to come but when I am not anymore I'd love to bump it up to a 11x multiplier, get a nicer fan and feel like I just upgraded my CPU.

Do I sound crazy or is this logical? Has someone on here done this...I tried looking and had no luck

yea thats how i thought most boards were (well you can get access to the lower multipliers with the new bios updates) but from that original post it seemed as though I could access the multiplier w/some sort of hardware modification to the MB.

i found this

but while they have some great mods i didn't see anything to open up the ability to change the multiplier. 🙁 ahh can't we just go back to the old days where there was a jumper for the multiplier LOL

I did the oc debug mod on mine, set the fsb bus strap on my e6600 to 1333mhz...and bam, 3.05ghz on stock voltage. Stable, at that.

I really dont think ya need to worry about overclocking w/ the multiplier on these conroes.

I plan on taking my to 3.6 just by bumping the fsb.

I think i'm gonna just hope that this week work goes well and i feel like spending the extra money on a P5W and hope that asus comes up with a bios update to allow underclocking with the multiplier on that board.
