Hello,
This might be a very stupid question 😛. I am thinking about upgrading my PC in the near future but all of the cables blocking my motherboard might make it hard. I'm thinking about just stripping all of the cables out of my PC and rewiring them all again, in a neater fashion. By unplugging all of them and re- installing them, will it screw up my components or something else in my PC?

Thanks.

No it will not, just make sure you a using a static wrist strap if you really want to be safe. Otherwise there shouldn't be any damages assuming all the wires are plugged back into the same ports.

Agreed. Nothing will go wrong, as long as you are grounded from any static. Otherwise, you will have to re-buy any components that were shot. Good luck!

If you're using a non-modular PSU, you may want to upgrade to a modular PSU to reduce clutter. But to answer your question, no, the components will not be damaged so long as the computer is off and you are grounded 😉

Thanks. I finally had the guts to do it and everything worked out fine, and I might be looking to get a modular PSU soon. Any recommendations?

Right now I have an intel i5 2550k, 8 gb of corsair RAM, asus hd 7870, and a 2tb hdd.
