bad cpu? (temp problems)

amd Athlon 64 dual core @2.8 ghz

iv been having a problem with this processor;
once cpu usages go over 40% the core temps rise by 30c or more

correct amount of thermal paste
heatsink mounted correctly

ugh just might have to scrap it

Try killing any background processes if that does not help then fresh install of OS
