Bad eBay Experience

Has anyone else had horrible experiences with eBay lately?

I recently purchased a t-shirt on there by signing up via my email and triple checked my registration info before confirming. I never received a confirmation email for my account and couldn't log back in after making my purchase. This became an issue because the shirt was a cheap print and was off center. I couldn't return the product without logging in, and eBay's only support option appears to be calling in, so I just took the loss and ignored it.

Now I had to purchase something on eBay again because it was $60 more everywhere else. I checked out as a guest because it still wouldn't allow me to sign in to my account, and also said my email address was already registered. Upon completion of my order, I was met with this...

"Congratulations Joshua, you have completed your 2 purchase on eBay! Your payment for US $289.66 has been processed by PayPal. You will receive an email receipt shortly."

Notice the horrible grammar and nonsense that I put in bold. Are they serious? I remember buying things on eBay ten years ago, when I was ten, and it always seemed perfectly fine back then. What happened?

i've purchased quite a few items from email and never noticed any issues. every item gets a confirmation and shipping email and every item is listed in my account history.

some email addresses have issues accepting email from some clients. for instance my verizon email had an issue with accepting a forum confirmation while gmail had zero issues. call ebay support up since you havent already. you should be able to get a resolution.

I'm using a standard gmail account. I'm considering calling them, now that I've made a more significant purchase. The shirt was only $20 or so with a $10 paypal credit.

are you absolutely sure you just didnt forget your password? you can try the forgot my password option when trying to log in. as i said, i've never had problems logging in

calling them is a good idea if nothing else seems to work.

problem purchases are much easier to work out with established accounts. guest purchases leave too many variables. what i'm thinking you did is guest purchase on ebay but you logged into your paypal to pay which is why it came up with your name.

keep in mind your paypal and ebay accounts can have different email addresses and passwords. this causes confusion at times (on ebay clicking pay tries to log me into paypal with ebay info but i originally had the accounts with different email addresses and it failed and made be log in manually)

I'm absolutely sure that wasn't it. I have a bad habit of using similar passwords for everything and I tried all 5 variations of what I use. It also doesn't send me an email after I click "forgot password" and try to have them send it to my email address. Oddly, it confirms a registered account at that address yet sends me nothing, not even spam.

hmm... if it confirms and account at your email address and sends a reply but you never receive it then there is something strange at work.

i've never had issues with gmail receiving email (you dont have any type of spam filters other than the default one at work right?) but i did have issues with other services (namely isp provided addresses) in the past.

i highly doubt this will help... but you could try clearing your interest history, cookies, passwords and saved data. try resetting to minimum security settings if ie (stock settings are fine for chrome) and trying ebay again. i highly doubt its a cookie bug i've seen stranger things before.

as a doublecheck you could try logging in from another device (pc, laptop, phone, etcetera).

my guess is that something is bugged with your account for some reason. as i said if nothing else works you can try contacting ebay.

hours and i presume a link to the number are listed.

It sure did seem like a phishing link, but everything checked out and I received my order. I have tried on other devices as well, it seems to be a problem on eBay's end. I'll probably give them a call soon.

i bought a persol sunglasses from helene and jack shriqui a power seller of high end sunglasses in ebay(blackjack181818 is the ebay store).when i recieved my item it looks nothing like the item i bought.it was a triple a immitation i learned about it when i took it to an optical shop for adjustment.i dont understand why lots of people give him positive feedbacks is it because they are not aware that the items they bought are triple a immitation..i myself would not know only an expert can tell..i wrote jack about this and we had an argument..the following day i can no longer access my account coz its been suspended for violation of ebay rules blah blah blah..its not true that ebay is a pro buyer...they will always side with a power seller because of the final value fee they get from them..the lesson i learned is that not every power seller can be trusted..my solution on this is buy from a store

you would not have been suspended from ebay without a good reason which you likely did not list here. if the seller did not satisfy you then you can contact ebay and they will go after them for you.

in many cases if a customer wants to send an item back because the buyer lied or the item you received was wrong and the seller refuses to fix the issue ebay/paypal will take money out of the sellers account and give it to the buyer. i have known people who have had this happen.

yes there are scams on ebay (just as there are scams everywhere) but in general ebay is alot more friendly to the buyer than it is to the seller.
