Bad FPS on Crysis 2 with the GTX 680

I am dropping even into the 20s at some points in Crysis 2, when I've heard that the 680 should be getting average of around 75 FPS. During that that time, the 310.9 WHQL drivers were out, and I was using those. Recently, I needed to send in another part for replace, and during that time, the 313.96 BETA drivers were out, so I have yet to try those. But, can anyone tell me why I'm getting bad FPS with the released drivers? Yes, I had V-Sync on, but I don't think it should be dropping that low. Also, after an hour or 2 into playing the game, I would get this unbearable stuttering that affected the video AND the audio. At first I thought it was the V-Sync causing that, but I didn't think V-sync caused audio stuttering. Can someone give me their experience? Do I have a faulty card, or something?

start with the simple debug...is your video cable on the gpu or the mb video port. if it on the ipgpu then it on the wrong port.
check that your mb bios is up to date and has all of the bug fixes. make sure the mb chipset drivers are up to date. check that the video card in the top video slot near the cpu and all power plugs on the video card are plugged in. run cpu-z check that the ram is running ok..if it an intel mb have xmp profile turned on. use gpu-z make sure the gpu read right and is running at 16x mode. make sure the mvp software to bond the ipgpu and gpu was not loaded. the mvp software is very buggy.

My CPU is definitely not a bottleneck, it's an i5 2500k.

Once I get my part back, I'm going to try again, because this time it's with a different motherboard. The last one wasn't too good, and also I somehow neglected to install latest BIOS. This time everything is installed. That could have very well been the problem, right?

I checked all of that before, and everything was okay.

My hyper 212 evo should have been on a fan curve, but if the CPU actually did throttle for some reason, I know it's supposed to save the CPU from dying, but could it have damaged it in any way?

You maxed out the fan and load the cpu with prime 95... if it's crash it's dead, if not, it's ok... (heat is the worse scenario but i really doubt it's been damaged, it never happenned to me and i'm a kind of extreme overclocker that doesn't fear the limit...)

PS: had a Q6600 2.4ghz running @4.05 1.65V when max intel specified voltage was 1.5V (and no one wants to pass that 1.5V limit) it's still running strong from 2009 to here but it's now @3.6ghz as it's in my HTPC and it have heat a lot in his years of service so i planned him a smooth retirement ^^

As soon as I get my power supply supply back, I'll test with prime 95. I don't think it's the CPU, as I'm getting really good temperatures at idle, around high 20s-low/mid 30s. How do those sound? Yeah, it's only idle, but it's the only thing I know right now. I'll also test the GPU with Heaven 3.0, I've heard I should be getting an average of around 45 fps.

It depends on your resolution and detail settings...

Your temps seems really good so i doubt it's that... (i idle at about 40)

Max setting at 1080p with a GTX 680 should give me around 45 fps average, or so I've heard.
