I am using a XFX Rx470 single fan GPU.

The stock thermal paste was decent and returned good temps.
I replaced the paste with Arctic MX4, initially the results were brilliant but after a week or so the temps started getting bad(worse than the stock thermal paste).

I thought it could be the dust so I dismantled the GPU cleaned the cooler and put it back together with new application of MX4. It's been a few weeks now and the MX-4 is returning bad thermals now.

Stock thermal paste temps:
70'C @ 1226MHz, 87W limit
mild throttling.

Newly applied Arctic MX4:
65'C @ 1226 MHz, 87W limit
No throttling

Week aged MX4:
74'c @ 1226MHz 87W limit
Severe throttling

I didn't replace the thermal pads.

I replaced the MX4 in the die two times. Both the times, the temps dropped after replacing the paste.
The VRM has thermal pads on them, I did not replace the thermal pads. I was careful in aligning them without air gaps. I think that would just do fine.

The VRAMs aren't cooled by the heatsink.
