Bad HDD - restore from recovery

I have an HP computer that came with windows 8.1. My hard drive failed from one of my kids dropping the laptop and I of course had not backed up or created restore media. Unfortunately, there is no sticker on it with a windows key. Using Macrium, I was able to copy the recovery partition to usb. I can also get the partition on the new ssd I put in the laptop. I can't get the windows recovery tool to restore as it says "missing partition". I assume it needs the primary partition to restore to, but I can't seem to get it setup using diskpart.

The version of macrium reflect I am using will auto size and create the necessary partitions. Please note that to restore an image the partitions you are restoring to have to match the ones on the image.

The old drive won't allow a full read of the data partition. Unfortunately, Macrium fails when trying to copy it.

Thanks for the response. I've decided to just order the recovery disks from Hp for $30USD.
