Hello community,
In the middle of a new build, Intel I3 chip, Biostar TZ77XE3 mainboard, Nvidia GTX 460 video card, AOC 22 inch monitor with VGA and DVI ports. I added 8 gig kingston ram to existing 8 gig kingston ram. Suddenly the monitor won't display proper resolution, only going to 1280 x 800 when it used to go 1680 x 1050. The only way I can get proper resolution is to use VGA out on the mainboard. I've RMA'd the mainboard twice, waiting on the third now. In the meantime, I've brought up an old machine, (an Emachine T6410) put an Nvidia 8800 card in, with the same AOC monitor. And AGAIN I can't get proper display resolution using DVI ports. I thought AHA my problem is the DVI cable. (single channel). I picked up a new one at Best Buy, but the problem persists. So I have different machine, different video card, different cable, SAME MONITOR.
I'm thinking my problem is the DVI port on the monitor is bad (?) The monitor is about 5 years old. Please help, thanks.
