Bad motherboard, power supply, ram, CPU?

Feb 16, 2012
I have read the relevant posts on my problem. I just need help with my end-game.
The computer turns on for less than a second, then turns off again. So I tested the power supply with a paperclip. Its a Corsair 650, and it turned on.
I then removed my ram. The motherboard is a Gigabyte. The four phase led's will usually flash once. The fans spin for a few seconds. (My video card was already out.)
I don't know if this is valid, but I took out my CPU and tried to power the motherboard, same effect.
Have I done everything to justify sending back my motherboard? Was it stupid to expect the motherboard to power on without a CPU...or memory, or both?
Do I replace my motherboard and hope that fixes it, or is there something else to try?
By the way, the CPU is an Intel i5, the RAM is Corsair. (This is basically Tonymacx86's first Power build. Trying to make a Hackintosh.)

Sounds good.
