Bad Newegg shipping..who would have thought

I have always had good service from Newegg, so what a surprise today to find out how bad their shipping dept. really is...it's plain just bad!!! I order a video-card and needed it pretty fast and not damaged. So, I had the option on shipping: FedEx 3 Day Guarantee ! Hmm..seemed like a good choice..it cost $18 and another $3 to speed up handling. So, I place the order on 31 May 11. I thought I was all set, then today I check FedEx tracking and found that Newegg had scanned it...but even 3 days later the order hadn't even been picked-up. Had a chat with Newegg and they said there was no kind of Guarantee...I would get it on the 6th of June! Since this was a birthday present for my husband..this order wasn't going to make it on time. So, I ask them to just cancel the order...But No ! I pointed out that FedEx did even have the order yet(yes I spoke with FedEx)..it was still at Newegg. Didn't matter to Newegg one bit...even though they still had my order..so would not cancel it. So, now they are going to ship it any way. I will have to refuse the order when it comes and ship it back to them. Then get hit with a restocking fee and maybe 5 days later I will get a refund.

Long story short: The 3 Day Shipping Guarantee is simply BOGUS! I thought Newegg was better than!
 
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I (like you prior to this occassion) have had nothing but great experiences with the shipping at Newegg.

Not trying to take anything away from what happened, but sometimes it can depend on the person you talk to. I have found that they can be pretty good and make certain exceptions when you are insistant (not saying you weren't).

I am sorry it didn't arrive in time for your husbands birthday 🙁. All the best.

I know what you mean as I'm actually experiencing this as we speak. I ordered some computer parts last week Saturday night and chose FedEx 3-Day GUARANTEED Shipping (emphasis on "guarantee"). I know that things don't get shipped/delivered on Sundays so I didn't count that day. However, on Monday when I saw the tracking guess when parts got sent out? 5PM in the afternoon... You know what that means? It means I have to add an extra day for the parts to arrive. It would be a different story if the parts were sent out early that Monday morning, but no.

So I'm checking the tracking every day since then and today (June 8, 2011) is supposed to be the day I'm expecting these packages to arrive. It's almost 5PM in the afternoon as I'm writing this post and so far no knock on the door from FedEx. I'm going to wait a few more hours but I fear it's never going to come tonight. So tomorrow is the day I will most likely receive the parts. That'll be 4 days total (not counting the Sunday).

FedEx 3-Day Guaranteed shipping my ass.....

EDIT: If the parts arrive in bad condition or if any of them are DOA, I'm going to file a complaint. The reason why I chose this shipping method was to ensure the parts are safe, secured, and won't be in transit for such a long period of time to avoid increasing the chances of damaging the parts.

EDIT 2: Just checked the tracking and noticed that the stuff I ordered are sitting at a sorting facility at a city not far away from where I live since 11 AM this morning. It's past 5PM already, why haven't they arrived yet?
 
Well, I haven't used Fedex since Newegg primarily switched to UPS, however for UPS here are a few things I noticed:

1.) They like to ship at night. Often the package will sit at Newegg until late at night, however UPS counts that as a day (I think).

2.) If it doesn't get to the sorting facility very early, it won't get on the truck to your house (for example, my most recent order was 7am).

I have a bunch of other specifics for UPS, however I'm not sure if they apply to Fedex (I've made way too many Newegg UPS orders if you can't tell.
 
I used paypal to order a Evga 580 1584 video card and New Egg excepted my money at 9:01am last Friday.

Now I go to ups, and it says it did not even leave new egg until today:

So much for the extra rip off 2.99 for "special service" and the $26.96 charged for NEXT DAY !!

Tiger Direct promises to ship same day for FREE all the time, not even trying to rip you off for 2.99
and they only charge $20.54 for next day service. I paid for the card really early on a Friday morning
and will not receive it until 3pm on a Tuesday, and they feel they have lived up to their end of the bargain.

I know its the holiday season, and they are busy, but from New Jersey to Connecticut, I could have gotten
it shipped for free with Amazon and gotten it sooner. Ive ordered other stuff from newegg but I never
used any expedited shipping before, so you can all save yourselves lots of money and just have it sent to
you for free. I don't understand why they would accept all of the extra money at 9:01am and then
say Origin scan 27 hours and 20 minutes later ?????? Im sorry Im venting here, but when you spend
600 bucks on a video card, you would like to get it pronto and not wait when you pay so much extra.
so the package sits in stratford for a whole day, arrived at 5am in the morning and now its almost 4pm the same day.
I know thats not NE's fault, but I still cant help but feel they should give me half of the 29.95 back.
 
Ive ordered from newegg before without any problems ....until my last order being a 12 sub for my sterio, I used the standard ups 3 day wich was free. got it on time but the box looked like it had been dropped on a corner from a high level..needless to say ,I heard the ups man pull up but he didnt knock so I came out and he was at his truck and booked out of there..I opened the box and the speaker was smashed in the same corner as the box. UPS is so much worse than fed ex in my eyes..ive never had a damaged product from fed ex..and I would of rather waited the extra few days to get my order undamaged, now i have to wait 5-7 days for them to process a damage complaint before another is shipped. Ive ordered from tiger direct many times and have never incountered this and this will be my last order through newegg..Id rather pay a little more and ensure my purchase comes intact.
 
I just ordered a cover for my fender Mustang Mark IV amp and it is coming fed ex
and from the time I ordered it ( free 5-8 day shipping ) and the time it gets here from Indiana will be Three Days only !!! FedEx is much better then UPS. But I thought FEDEX wont deliver larger packages ??? NewEgg sent me a reply to my complaints by offering me a 10 dollar gift coupon for my next purchase....and that is never gonna happen as they screwed me so bad !!! Hope your new 12 sub comes ok !!!
 
Well newegg has been pretty good about the return took only 1 day to resend the sub and they let me change it to fedx 3 day for free. as far as tiger direct, I never buy the 2-3 day delivery..no matter what I order it gets here 2nd day :) must be close to there outlet.
