I recently bought a new gaming desktop 2 days ago.

Everything was working fine and I was playing BF4 at about 50-60-70 FPS. But now my framrates are terrible. I do not have any idea why but I run it at 15-20-25 FPS, and it is really choppy. First I thought it was the game that something was wrong with, but then I benchmarked with unigine heaven and I scored 460 on ultra. Can someone please help me? Here are my specs:

AMD r9 290 GPU
AMD Fx 8320 CPU
8gb 1600mhz of ram
120gb SSD
2tb HDD

the low fps was because of overheating with r9 290 to rectify this attach a proper cooler to ur graphic card
last but not least update ur drivers amd has released new driver for r9290 with bug fixes

I got the computer 2 days ago, and I haven't been hotter than 70 degrees
It can't have been overheated so easely. And it was working at start with much better performance, it just recently started running terrible

first of all what is your psu.? 290 operates at temps as high as 90-95C at full load according to amd and that shouldnt be the problem. though you should monitor your gpu temps not only on load but on idle too as well as your cpu.also make sure you have good air flow in your tower.

So you're having problems with BF4? That is not your gpu's fault, that's just the game.
I recommend you install MSI afterburner, and monitor your gpu usage. You will probably see your gpu usage drop all the way to 50%, while this obviously should be 100/99% all the freaking time. It seems everyone with a top of the line card such as the gtx 780, 780 ti, r9 290x etc, have this issue.
I have no idea if your benchmarking score is good, if it is much worse that it should be, you are probably having heat issues. Make sure that the airflow in your case is optimal, you should know in which direction the fan is blowing air to solve this. Oh, I just noticed that your case came prebuild, it is really unlikely that your psu isn't strong enough, and your airflow can't be that bad.
