Bad power supply? (HDD circuit board fried)

One of my HDD's circuit board got fried when I plugged it into a power supply for a PC that I am building. Is it my HDD that is faulty or is it my power supply? Im a bit afraid of burning another one. Links to images of the circuit board here:

was the pc unplugged when you hooked up the cable? do you have a modular psu? if so is was the power cable plugged into the wrong port on the psu itself?

The PC was not on but it was connected to the wall. And yes the power supply is modular, but I can't see how I might have connected it wrong.
