[SOLVED] Bad ram or bad slot?

Hey all! I am new to the website and to PC building. I built my first PC and everything is running great except my computer is only seeing 1 of my 2 ram sticks. This causes me to have 8gb of ram instead of the expected 16gb.

Here is my main concern: In bios, it only shows ram in 1 slot, but in the slot that isn't being read properly, it is translucent. This would indicate something different about the slot itself as the other 3 slots are being displayed as a solid color. Does anyone know what this might indicate?

Thanks for any help!

Solution
Install only one ram module, try all slots.
If ram module is detected, it is fine.
If it is detected in one slot and not in another slot, then you have a problem with ram slot or cpu socket.

Repeat the same thing with second ram module.
