Question Bad ram?

Hello, i have a 1gb ddr1 sodimm ram for an ancient tablet pc i have, it originally has 512mb of ram so i think of upgrading it, so installing windows xp is no good,bsods arrived, so trying memtest86, and many errors arrived immediately. What does it mean? Bad ram?

Almost certainly bad ram.

Remove the new stick, test again. There isn't much else to do with a bad ram stick. Honestly you'll probably have trouble reliably finding working DDR1 ram, as production on that stopped 15 years ago.

i think at this point its time to consider replacing that ancient tablet with a low cost chromebook

No, i actually have a laptop of my own and i just wanted to fix it cause for a brother

Unless you know the ram came from a verified working source, as old as any DDR 1 is, it's an almost guaranteed chance it's bad. You may go through several sticks before finding one that actually works.

Reseating a dead ram stick wont do anything. Dont bother with ddr1, just get a new device. even if its the cheapest on the market, it will still do better than a laptop from 18-20 years ago.
