Question Bad socket on AMD motherboard?

Hello,

I am helping a friend with a build over the phone. He bought a Ryzen 2600x along with a Asrock B450 Pro4. After getting everything hooked up he gets no power to anything. Tried a different PSU and re connected everything just to make sure. Same problem. We did notice though the arm that you push down to lock the CPU to the socket has ZERO tension. With it in the locked position I am fairly confident that if you turned the case on its side the cpu would possibly fall out because there is so little tension hold it in. Could this cause a no power situation and have you ever heard of it before?

The locking bar should be locked in and the CPU should not move at all.

What GPU is your friend using with this CPU/motherboard?

Assuming the GPU has power connected to it properly, then I suspect a defective motherboard (from your socket description). I suggest your friend request an RMA/exchange for it.
