Then I’m not sure what you can do. No one on this site can help you get around password protection, it’s against forum rules. I will also add I wouldn’t know how in this case.
Going in to the BIOS settings is one way but not always necessary - - - you should be able to bring up a Boot Device Menu for a "one time" change of boot device. It's safer than going in to the BIOS settings because you can't mess anything up. The Boot Device Menu is typically F11 or F12, but may be something else on your Dell, you'll just have to try F11 or F12, it won't do any harm even if it's wrong.

Hi Sizzling Thanks for your early response. I have rebooted andi got Dell security manager password request. I have keyed this inand then F12. the machine is inLegacy boot. I have drilled down to Change Boot Mode Settings. and being asked for my Admin password to continue. I have tried leaving the admin box empty - does not work - I have trieda number of pw but no luck so basically I do not remeber theis password. The sytem tells me that an Admin password has been set on this computer. sorry to be a pain andf your help is much appreciated regards rf1
