I currently have a 1gb/1gb connection my computer has a crappy 3600 series intel wifi card, which i get speeds around 200down and 50ish up "shows max speeds of 433Mb, i think"

bought an a6210 1200 "max speeds of 867" and im literally getting the same speeds

wireless router is an 1750AC .

i am not 100% dumb about networking but i could've been certain i'd seen a jump in speeds.. at least 100-200Mb more

Solution
If you get 200mbps on your first card that is a very high number. You likely are sitting very close to the router.

You would think the other card would be a bit better but wifi performance depends on many variables. The second card depends on its ability to send/receive 2 overlapping signals. It will of course never be double because of the difficulty separating the interfering signals.

You need to reset your expectations to more realistic real world numbers. This site has test results for many devices. You will note even the very top routers using 4 overlapping signals do not get much over 200mbps in average distance conditions.
