Hello.
I am building a custom gaming PC and I am interested in buying PC speakers.

I never really gave too much thought to it as I always assumed I would just use my headphones but I suppose some good quality speakers could also add to the immersive experience.

Ideally I would like these speakers to be able to play intense games like Battlefield 3 and Bioshock Infinite
with crisp clear sound, especially during firefights but also capable of playing soft noises such as footsteps(if needed for online and such)
Is it worth forking over more money for some quality speakers or not, and if so could anybody please recommend some?

I also have no knowledge in this particular area so I don't really know how much I should spend.
I am basically on a mid-range to enthusiast budget, if that helps?

it's really hard to suggest a good pair that would give you all you need(give anyone). The word logitech sicken me. been down that road. don't last long and they don't cover the entire spectrum of sound.
lansing are long lasting........ but don't have newer ones so don't know how long they last, but also lack across the board sound.

I have a set of "custom" speakers. Lansing sub with 2 sats and a pair of 5" fulls attached. with that I have a 10" attached to the sub and a pair of genius .75/2.25........ these together cover every tone you can imagine........... and will wake up the neighbors....
Having said that, look up the corsair speakers. they only make one or can only find one anymore. sometimes you can get these for $159 but mostly a good price would be around $200.
you didn't mention what headphones you had. I have a set of corsair vengeance 2000 and you can pick up distant sounds ( vehicles/feet, etc. ) and voice quite good.

I'm from Ireland and my max would be about €300 which would be close to $400

Ha thanks for the help. Did not have a clue what you were talking about when you started talking about your custom setup:)

My absolute max budget is around $400 and would prefer to keep as well under this as I can without sacrificing quality.
Will try and research Corsair, thanks.

Well I have two pairs but neither are really dedicated Gaming headsets.
Have a pair of Beats for music and movies and also a huge pair of Philips headphones which wouldn't be the best of the best but I have never really needed more.

Thank you.
Well as I said that is my absolute max after a long time time of saving up but I would prefer to keep under this as much as I can without sacrificing sound quality:)

If I had to choose between speakers between $200, $300 or $400 I would probably choose $200 or $300

Pretty sure I have it cut down to two options.

Corsair 2.1 SP2500
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836852001
or
Logitech 5.1 Z906
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121050&Tpk=logitech%20z906&IsVirtualParent=1

I have read all the reviews of each and they all mention their incredible sound quality.
Obviously the corsair 2.1 isn't as powerful as the Logitechs but they still seem like quality speakers for the money.
What I want to know is which should I get(keep in mind that the Logitechs are only 70 Pounds more where I'm from)
I love my music and gaming sound quality but am not an extreme audiophile. Will the 5.1 option make much of a difference to me? (Is the 5.1 just overkill?)

Shit. thanks for that:)
Going to edit now.

If you had to say which is better in your opinion what would it be?

Ye, space is not a problem.
I'm just wondering for a £70 difference which is better value for money in terms of immersive gameplay

If your family members and neighbors are okay with your speakers blasting away, then Logitech. Otherwise Corsair. Generally, if speakers are all around your room, surround sound doesn't work well unless they're all at a certain volume. Which if your house have other noises like TV, it can be quite loud.

Ha, I'm sure they'll get used to it:)

I was just joking by the way but thank you for your help.

The Corsair one can be placed closer and lowered volume. So you'll still hear it. They don't need to be blasted throughout the house.
