Got what I thought was 3/8" tubing here for my maxxxpert water cooling kit. turns out, its a hair bigger. Im guessing is that teh problem here is that this stuff was made in a country using the metric system.

sooo... 3/8"=.375=9.525mm

Im guessing this stuff is 10mm tubing. Whats a good place to get tubing at (and I only need about 4.5')?

... And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

i'm pretty sure any auto parts store has rubber tubing for radiators, etc, etc...

get used to metric. The whole damn world uses metrics... only in the US except scientists...

yeah in the uk we're not allowed to buy our food in ounces anymore. Damn Brussels. grr
i can still buy my beer in pints tho 😀

The metric system is superior to that stupid imperial system. And it is the international system used by scientists... why can't we just get totally rid of the dying imperial system?

My PC is so freaking big and heavy it bends space and time 😱

i wish america would move to the metric system, its so much easyer. especially trying to figure out socket sizes. stupid fractions, my mind doesnt work like that.

complete agreeance, I've missed intirely too many physics problems that want there answer in ft/sec instead of m/sec, metric is better so why not use it all the time

tell me about it - i go to the store to get tubbing for watercooling setup, knowing that i need 1/2" ID... i'm in canada here, what the f#ck is 1/2" in millimeters, hah... luckily, we still use both.. guess we'll always have to compensate for american oddities

Here in Holland we use metric for as good as everything, except weel sizes and some tubing sizes... mostly because they're made in the countries that still use a system from the Dark Ages (j/k).

I grew up using the standard method for everything, and am slowly...switching over.

On everything that I monitor temperature with I'm now using C. But for some things, like miles per hour or weight, I find it damn hard to convert.

I'm not a stubborn stupid american or anything, but when someone says "I was going 50 kph" in my head I'm converting it to mph, same for meters and yards/feet.

I'm totally cool with Celsius or Liters though, I wish we'd switch that right now

It's all good ^_^

40's just would NOT be the same in metric, would they?

Would really mess up rap lyrics.

From
"Rollin' through da hood, sippin' on my foe-ty..."
to
"Rollin' through da hood, sippin' on my 11.829 deciliter..."

Breaking News: God expelled from Netherlands; not good enough. Details to come.

thats the way it should be  ! besides, the only place to still use imperial system is the US ... slow to learn, as usual

Hah, that's great

It would mess up all sorts of systems that we Americans use way... too much

- Gallon of milk
- 13 gallon gas tank
- 9/12/20/32/44/64 ounce fountain drinks
- mph
- how much would a dime bag be in euros? lol

It's all good ^_^

I am an Aircraft Mechanic, and NO arcraft produced in the United States has ever, or will ever have metric bolts and nuts. Mainly because MS (Military Spec) and AN hardeware has worked for so long.

Being so, the only metric tools I own are a Crescent Wrench (adjustable wrench) and a Hammer. I would be so screwed if I bought a new car or truck (my 1985 K10 is all American) because I can't use metric.

If I look at a bolt, I can tell if it is a 1/2 inch socket, or a 9/16. Just by looking at it. If I look at a metric bolt, I grab a set of somebody else's metric sockets, look at the holes in the end, and use trial and error to find the one that fits. I probably never look at what size it is.

I hate metric as a mechanic. I also have no problem converting, so I have no problems there. And all my torque values are in inch/pounds or foot/pounds. Sounds cooler than newton/meters.

Although I use the metric system for some things, a total change to the metric system would suck.

do they? don't think so... i think they still use some of the measurements, like here, but mainly use the metric system... i think, heh

That is what you get when you have way to much experience with the imperial system.

But if you purely look for both system objectifly it comes clear the metric system is superior to the imperial one. The USA might need to start thinking of (slowly) changing otherwise the world will laugh at them, as metric is going to be the international system for the future.

Metric system = one of only 2 good things to come out of France (the other is wine).

The US and I believe the Phillipines are the only 2 countries left still using Imperial. Kinda says something when even the Brits, the people who invented it, are abandoning it.

My personal favorite is that a British gallon and a US gallon is not the same.

Now imagine if the US military switched over to metric. All those $40,000 wrenches would have to be replaced. Then they'd go overboard and insist that the screwdrivers and hammers have to be replaced as well ("We can't have a 5 pound sledgehammer, we need a metric one"). Then they'd have to order the left handed version of all those $40,000 wrenches, screwdrivers and hammers.

We are changing slowly: Every can od soda, all bottles of anything, all packaging of foods in general, has both U.S. measurments AND metric measurments.

EXAMPLE:
Can od Coca-Cola (in front of me now)

12 FL OZ
(355 mL)

And all things are like that here.

But really, who cares if the rest of the world laughs at us? Just because the U.S. is superior (that is why everybody hates us, they are jealous) is no reason to be laughed at. Although we are on a steady decline, which started shortly after the original laws were set.

Well if everybody laughs at you and you stich with a dying system then your international importance will degrade slowly. The world isn't going to addept to the imperial system so you have to adept to the metric one if you don't want to get isolated and want to loose your superiority (which is going to disappear anyway the comming century IMHO).
And people hating you because you're superior... I don't think you're right about that. There are far better reason for people to hate the USA.

They have both Imperial and metric not out of any desire to switch, but because they have to have the metric if they want to export the soda. Anything created for purely domestic consumption will have only Imperial.

What I mean by superior is not superior people, but a superior way of government. I, right now, could go down the street and buy a gun. I can get a Magnum Research Desert Eagle .50AE, or a Remmingtonn 12 Guage, or a Styer Scout 308 ect. ect. ect. The only BS is the local liberal communist bastards are trying to remove that RIGHT (see Constitution, amendment 2) for me to keep and bear arms.

In the same respect, Capitalism is the only way that can prosper, and will prosper. Note socialism throughout the history and find out how many times that has failed within the century. how many times has capitalism failed? NONE. It is the only viable option for a lasting system.

I am a firm believer in the government not making my decisions. However, due to the communist rat bastards in the government, they tell us crap like how much water a toilet can have in it for flushing... WTF? If I want a 25 gallon (how many litres is that?) toilet, then dammit, I'll HAVE a 25 gallon toilet.

Even though we have a long ways to go before our government is really good (which will never happen at the rate we are going) it is a better system and way to go about things. I really don't think I could live without the right to do anything morally correct that I wanted to do (ie. own a gun, say what I want when I want to whom I want ect.)

I choose freedom. If some lowlife decides to break into my house, I have every RIGHT to shoot and kill him, and I will. How many countries with the beloved metric system have all of these options, without filling in gobs of paperwork and waiting a year?
