I'm trying to add 4k@60Hz graphics capability to my PC which has two empty PCIe 2.0 (x4 and x16) slots, and I'd like to borrow your wisdom to see if my solution is valid.

I'm thinking of combining these two products to achieve my goal.

QICENT PU31-1P1C-BK USB 3.1 Type-C & Type-A 2-Port PCI Express Card Gen II 10 Gbps for Desktop

Cable Matters USB 3.1 Type C (USB-C & Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible) to DisplayPort 4K UHD Adapter

The second product seems to have no problem with driving 4k display at 60 Hz. But the question is the first product (PCIe x4 card). Since my PCIe slots are only version 2.0, theoretical max bandwidth is 500Mbps per lane or 2Gbps for x4 card.

I searched a lot but couldn't find if 2Gbps is enough to drive 4k display at 60 Hz. If it is, do you think I can even daisy chain two 4k monitors and drive them both at 60 Hz?

TIA

Super confused why the products you're looking at are USB and Thunderbolt cards. 4k at 60 Hz can be achieved with a GTX 1080, hooked up with a 4k monitor using a DisplayPort.

Thanks for reply and sorry for confusion. Please look at both products. The first one adds USB 3.1 Type C to my PC, and the second one is an adapter for USB Type C to Display Port conversion. My plan is to use BOTH to achieve my goal. I edited my post to clarify this.

Replacing graphics card requires major surgery and is not an option for me (I have to replace power supply, motherboard, etc).

So you don't have a DisplayPort on your GPU? If not, then this probably means you won't be able to even get 4k at 60 FPS, since your graphics card won't be powerful enough.
