Time Warner Cable recently upgraded internet speeds in San Antonio. I recently moved into a house with the upgraded internet. When the technician installed the service we had originally tried out a Netgear N600 that I had bought to deliver internet, but that stalled at 100mbps on my system and on the technician's laptop that he uses to check speeds.

We switched modems to the TWC one and tried it again on his laptop and he reached speeds from 280mbps to >300mbps.

When we switched the connection back to my computer the speeds on speedtest.net will spike quickly at 250mbps and then slow to 100mbps or 90mbps.

I know 100mbps is already a lot but I'm missing out on triple that speed. I would love to be able to take full advantage of what I am being provided, so any and all help is absolutely welcome!

I have an MSI MS-7821 motherboard.

Please help me fix my connection so that it may reach its full potential!

Speedtest.net

When the technician was here I'm not sure what method he used to test it, but I do remember seeing the last results at approximately 286mbps.

I am hard wired in directly to computer through Ethernet cable. The wifi is on and available but no one is using it right now.

It was the same with the older modem/router combo that I used, except it wouldn't peak at 250mbps initially, it just hovered around 100mbps. Switched back and I get the same thing. Spike immediately at 250mbps and then a gradual decrease to 100mbps.

It might be some sort of setting or software where it is gating the speed to a paltry 100mbps!

I shall try that when I get home. Thanks for the advice so far!

There's a few threads on the TWC forums on the same issue. Not a lot but i've seen maybe 3 total including mine. There's something about this issue that is prevalent and there's probably an easy solution we haven't found yet.
