Since I move around a lot I am thinking to get a barebone to do the task of my current desktop. The thing is fast but a ***** to move around. Now I am going to make a documentary in latin america an can't carry it around. A notebook, even a DTR is out of question because of Screensize, HDD speed and Memory subsystem.
So I thought to make a little compromise for the sake of portability. Currently I have a Xeon Dual @2.66GHz, 2GB DDR333 ram, 640GB HDD (4x 160 SATA)and a Radeon 9800XT@FireGL which I put on ebay.
My thoughts were on an sn95p w/ Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 2GB DDR400 Kingston, 500GB HDD (2x 250GB SATA II), Radeon x600 AIW (need VIVO). But I'm not so sure.
How great would the compromise be, would it be much slower than before? Does anyone have a better Idea (I can only spend about 1600EUR and I have a Powermac Dual G5, but need to run premiere as well as FC).
Any thoughts are welcome...

I'd get a Micro ATX narrow tower, something a bit wider than a slim tower but still narrower than a cube. Cubes look tiny but they are very wide.
