Barebones kit: What parts do I need?

Im looking to make a half decent, affordable gaming pc. This is my first time building anything like this, and i have no clue which parts I would need to buy. please comment

This is alright, except you'll need to buy a hard drive and a videocard along with it, in which case it will be tough to keep under $500. I'd recommend building the Tom's Hardware $500 gaming PC from the most recent system builder marathon. That's more than half-decent, and under $500. You could skip out on the disc drive and get less RAM to make it even cheaper.
